How fast and how good are new images?

A vehicle's first image, in the default front three-quarter view and a color, typically comes back in under 20 seconds; drawing it takes 8.5 seconds on average. Another view nobody has asked for yet takes about 40 seconds the first time. Every image is stored permanently, so later requests, in any color and size, are served from the stored copy in about a second, and signed URLs from our CDN cache.

A first image is made at standard quality so it comes back fast. That view is then redrawn at enhanced quality in the background, usually within a day, at no charge; from then on every color of it is served at enhanced quality from the same URLs. On a paid plan, account webhooks receive image.upgraded with reason first_view. Other views stay at standard quality; any stored view can be upgraded to enhanced for 20 credits.
